Tonya Hertel

Tonya Hertel is Anishinaabe and a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa in North Dakota. Tonya grew up on Standing Rock and considers Standing Rock her home. She currently works on Standing Rock with Indigenous youth with disabilities living both on and off of the reservation. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Management from the University of Mary and an Associate’s degree in Small Business Management from Sitting Bull College. Tonya has a professional background in small businesses and working with Indigenous youth. A believer in community and service, Tonya has served on several boards throughout the years both off and on the reservation. From her own life experiences and work related, she strives to help people successfully overcome obstacles and to find culturally appropriate resources and wellness. Tonya enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and learning new things.
