MASS. Design Group
Architecture is never neutral; it either heals or it hurts. MASS Design Group is a non-profit architecture and design collective that researches, builds, and advocates for architecture that promotes justice and human dignity.
As a non-profit organization, we partner with mission-driven organizations to advance their impact through the built environment. Our partners deserve the highest quality design services to solve the hardest challenges. This deeply contextual, user-centered design takes time; the current market is not set up to deliver this standard.
Do No Harm Coalition
In September 2016, the Do No Harm Coalition at UCSF was invited to help create a free clinic at the camp of the Standing Rock Lakota Dakota and their supporters who are gathering to protect access to clean water and dignity of their ancestral lands.
Jena & Michael King Foundation
The work of the Jena & Michael King Foundation and Michael & Jena King Family Fund focuses on protecting, restoring and nurturing the cycle of life. Through support of regenerative agriculture, healthy soils and climate, and the general health of all beings, biodiversity and living systems, the foundation gives special attention to the rising youth and indigenous movements, priorities that will continue through its new, full alliance with the One Earth climate initiative.
One Earth
The One Earth Initiative is focused on solving the climate crisis by creating a vision for the world in which humanity and nature coexist and thrive together. It presents a pathway to staying below the dangerous threshold of 1.5˚C global temperature through three pillars of action – 100% renewable energy, protection and restoration of 50% of the world’s lands and oceans, and a transition to regenerative, carbon-negative agriculture. Support of indigenous leadership is a key component of its vision.
